How lovely is the Mekong Delta? If visitors come to Ho Chi Minh City, they should book a tour to visit the Mekong Delta. It is located in southern Vietnam with a vast maze of rivers, swamps, and islands. It is home to floating markets, Khmer pagodas, and villages surrounded by rice paddies. Boats are the main means of transportation, and tours of the region often start in nearby Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) or Can Tho, a bustling town in the heart of the delta. The river itself starts in the Himalayas and passes through China, Myanmar, Thailand, and Cambodia before reaching Vietnam, which partly explains why the water is so murky. More than half of Viet Nam’s rice and fish come from the delta region. It is vital to the Vietnamese economy and diet. The Mekong Delta brings to mind floating markets and sampan rides through natural tunnels. Many tour companies offer excursions into the region for tourists. Without a doubt, a day trip is better than not going at all, but we recommend you take more time to visit as many of these places as you can: Mỹ Tho, Cần Thơ, Sóc Trăng, Cần Giờ, Biosphere Reserve Rạch Giá, Châu Đốc. Next, it the floating market (CAI Rang) on the Mekong Delta. This is a small market on the river where local people can use floating boats to buy and sell to deliver for markets on land. For people here, the boats are their home and their whole family. Tourists can buy food and drinks, like coconut juice throughout the floating market. People in the Mekong Delta are eco-friendly with their environment. In the early days of building the area, natural conditions had a strong effect on their lives. For survival, people have learned how to adapt to new environments. As a result, they have the experience to adapt eco-friendly methods to preserve their livelihood on the Mekong Delta.
How about Ho Chi Minh City? Viet Nam is a popular country of tourists from around the world. Ho Chi Minh City is one of the biggest cities in South Vietnam. It is considered a big heart of South Vietnam, which provides a big number of various jobs for people throughout the country. Ho Chi Minh City is a very crowded city with a lot of traffic on the streets. Coming here, visitors will find there are many motorcycles as a mode of transportation. The lifestyle here is very fast-paced, but in the evening the people always spend their time walking the streets of Nguyen Hue Street. Ham Nghi Street is what tourists say is “paradise” city because HCM is a very crowded city and it looks like the city never sleeps. With different cultures and customs, the lifestyle is always full of interesting and new things. In Ho Chi Minh City you can find ancient buildings in the middle of the city like Notre Dame Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh Opera House, Ben Thanh Market. Before 1975, Ho Chi Minh City was called Saigon. People who live in Ho Chi Minh City still love calling it Sai Gon because it sounds friendly. At night, the city is so beautiful that people often like to gather in cafes or sit on the banks of the river along the roads. Saigon people are friendly and simple, and are sometimes called Saigonese- they love to explore food, take pictures, and gather their friends in many coffee shops with beautiful views. However, the best feature that tourists should not miss in Saigon is the food. Saigon is the best city in which travelers can find a lot of food from both North and South Vietnam. Besides that, Saigon cuisine has been upgraded to a sophisticated level with other cuisines from Southeast Asia such as Thai, Japanese, Korean or European cuisine. People really love the food in Saigon, especially Stir-Fried Beef Noodles, Vietnamese Pancake, Vietnamese sandwich, sour soup, and stewed fish. Those are traditional dishes that everyone who visits Saigon must try.
